Status of Linux Real Time?

I was wondering what the current status of hard real time is under
Linux. What has been implemented already? What things have not yet
been finished? I know that real time was mentioned in the various
"wishlists" for kernel 2.1.x, but I have not heard of anything being
done since then. My company currently uses LynxOs for its realtime
stuff. Lynx does the realtime stuff quite well, but for most everything
else that Linux is good at (like compatability with everything), Lynx
sucks. It would be great if we could use Linux instead.
