as i'm working on a strategy to save power on laptops by switching off the hard disk
drive, i would like to know if there is a status bit on a ide hd which tells whether
the motor of the drive is running or not.
i know of hdparm, but i want to do other stuff, too.
any suggestions will be appreciated.
