3C900 & transmitter access error

We have an experimental FireWall with 2 3C900 Ethernet cards.
When we do large transfers we always get the mentioned error, and the
card stops working until we reboot the machine.
Anyone have experienced the same probleme? Is there a quick fix?
By the way, we use the modified version of the 3c59x driver...
