Sure, no question about that, this partition is _really_ hosed, it used to
be 650MB ext2 (well formated, working), the whole disk has been
repartitioned to 500MB / 500 MB (this is a 1GB disk), _not_ mke2fs'ed on
the first partition, planning to try solaris 2.5 on this one.
Solaris barfed, still after that, I wanted too see how the kernel would
recognize this partition. I used mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/other, so I let it
try to detect UFS (I got UFS compiled with BSD tab support in my kernel).
The problem is, reading the superblock remaining of the old 650 MB
partition, it attempted to read beyon end of device..
This situation could be handled with something else than a total freeze,
no ctrl-alt-del, only VC's switching working..
That's the only point of my post.
Actually, my barfed attempt to install solaris on this partition as maybe
nothing to do with it.
