This is more than likely due to the bios revision in your Quantum drive.
Apparantly revision L915 (or maybe it is L912) is the latest revision and
should fix this problem. Check out the aic7xxx mailinglist for further
information. It is a well known problem with these drives and DOS/VFAT
partitions. I personally don't own one of these drives yet but I recall
it is flash-rom upgradable so checkout Quantum's web site for the file you
need.
