Hi all,
I've "download" the kernel 2.0.30 from the net. I've compiled it by following the steps specified in the README file that was with the source. After rebooting my system I see some messages on the monitor and my PC Hangs with the error message "Kernel panic......"
The original text which were on my monitor were:

Partition check:
Hda: hda1 hda2
[Msdos FS Rel. 12, fat 0, check=n, conv=b, uid=0, gid=0, umask=022, bmap]
[me=oxb3, ccs=0, #f=219,fs=0, f1=0, ds=0, de=9992, data=0, se=33070, ts=72832, ls=255]
Transaction block size = 512
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02

An urgent help is needed. If you could help me please email me. Is there any other way for me to recover back my ancient kernel ( actually version 2.0.0).

I've use the rescue disk to modify /etc/lilo.conf as specify in the README to use the old Kernel back and the same error message is notice.

Your help will be really appreciate
