Hello,

Forgive my intrusion but there may also be a much simpler reason
for databases using RAW devices. Simply put - not all OS/FS combinations
support file sizes greater than 2GB. No self-respecting database is going
to limit itself to that and frankly its by far simpler to do your own
block IO than work around the limitations of an FS. = My $.019999999
