Using both 2.1.* and 2.0.* kernels??

Is it possible to use 2.0.* and 2.1.* kernels if you upgrade all the
packages to the necessary version for the 2.1.* kernels would everything
still work with the 2.0.* kernels just fine? Thanks!!
