I seem to remember that there were several clone chips that had
486 performance but 386 limitations - especially when it came
to things like paging. Unfortunately the difference between a
386 compiled kernel and a 486 compiled kernel is significant
and always likely to be a compile time setting so you just have
to know your chip is, ah, "challenged" in some ways.
