My guess is that what you're seeing is a MS thingy called 'Netbios
name resolution on DNS'. It bit us here, was well, until Eric told
us how to at least make diald ignore requests on port 137 (ie not bring
up our dial-up connection). On NT, I think you can turn the damn
thing off via the control panel, but it seems you need to mess with the
registry editor under win95. There's even an MS knowledge base article
on the subject: article id Q137368.
