Resetting tty's

Ok
If this doesn't belong here, someone point me the right direction.
My 2.x.xx kernels keep having a problem resetting the tty stuff after
initiating PPP and the connection dies. I've tried messing with getty
and ppp config and alot of other stuff... Can someone point me the
right directon to a fix? It's not a constant problem and can't find any

other indications of a problem.
