2.0.31-pre7 Report

Last night I built 2.0.31-pre-patch-7 plus the anti-deadlock patch
that Werner posted and there's good news and bad news.

First the good news:

almost 11 hours later a 'make -j zImage' was still running. This same
system (16mb ram, 128mb swap) locked up solid (reset button required) with
pre6 + werner + krzysztof's patches running 'make -j zImage' yesterday.

Now the bad news:

After 11 hours the make had only gotten as far as the net directory :)
I seem to vaguely recall that at some point I had a kernel that would run
a 'make -j zImage' to completion in a few hours on this system, but I
could be wrong. If I did, I don't remember which it was anymore :(

Anyway, pre-7 seems to be stable, which is great progress over the last
few versions :) :) :)
