The following patch against 2.1.51 just removes some of the VERY
VERY old and no longer used crap. It doesn't seem to break ANY of
the important binary only apps I'm using (communicater, navigator,
arobat, reader, JDK, Motif-2.0, Motif-1.2.5).

A look at linux/sys.h convinced me that any application written for
the linux-5 library shouldn't be compromised by this removal:

I don't know if Linus wants to put this stuff in.

But if he does say yes to it, I suggest we rename the modern syscall
functions to the real name (ie. without "new" prepended to them).
