The symptom I'm suffering is total lock up under
heavy load, i.e.
3 make
1 40Mb tar zxvf
1 find on the whole hd
The system begins swapping and it swaps more and
more ... until it locks up
I can't see anything in system logs.
I've disabled (killed) klogd and syslogd
hoping to get some useful information... nothing
to do.
The situation is reproducible with prepatches
from 7 to 9. I haven't tried with earlier prepatches.
