By the way, what are actually the experiences of the NextStep folks ?

I believe the way NextStep handled FAT "binaries" was that the
"application" was really a directory, which contained multiple files,
including the icon for the application, and multiple executable files
for various platforms, etc. So the directory contained the various
"resources", including executables for multiple OS's.

See? FAT binaries aren't hard to do! :-)
