2.1.55 strange lockup revisited

I reported a strange lockup on this list last week. But I did
not lookup the Scroll-Lock info. So it happend again today and here
is the info:
HW:
486/66 , 24MB, Ultrastor 34F w/ 1GB HD, CDROM, TAPE(module - not used),
2GB+200MB+340MB IDE
Software:
The system is currently running Linux 2.1.55.

The lockup occures after prolonged idle time 18+houres (only some basic
proccesses are running: syslogd, klogd, crond, getty... and a pppd session
that is idle as well.
After leaving the computer idle like this it just locks up after a while.
