LS120 IDE drive

Hi,

I have just bought an LS120 IDE floppy drive and I would like to
get this working with Linux.

Currently I have 2.0.30 installed, but as I have found out this
kernel does not support IDE floppy drives. But I did notice that
2.1.x does now have support for IDE floppy drives.

I have installed a development kernel before, I used to track
1.3.x quite closely, but before installing any 2.1.x kernel
I read the patch summaries.

I noticed that on kernel had a serious warning about data loss,
which stopped me in my tracks.

I know that there is a risk with installing a development kernel,
but that seemed to be too much of a risk. Could someone please
advise me which of the 2.1.x kernels is considered to have
the lowest risk, I recently read that 2.1.54 might have a
memory leak, is this fixed in 2.1.56 ? Would 2.1.56 be
relatively low risk ?

Any idea on when 2.2.0 might be released.

Thanks & Regards,
Graham.

PS: I do not subscribe to this list, so please send replies
directly to me.
