I interned for IBM this summer. Their internal Linux usenet/VM disucssion
list has a lot of traffic, as it is used quite extensively, considering
Linux is not an official IBM approved OS. (While I was there, it got more
postings than NT, OS/2, AIX, or anything else.)

At one point there was a discussion about porting Notes to Linux. Someone
who had access to the Notes API (for building Notes access into your
custom application) said he wanted to write his own client, but couldn't
because the API NDA explicitly states that the information cannot be used
to create a stand-along app. that would in effect compete with the basic
Notes client.

There was much talk about petitioning for a Linux port, but the summer was
over, and therefore I left before, it got any further. And there was no
mention that Lotus had an internal Linux version. (But that doesn't mean
that there isn't. After all, IBM is a big company.)
