1. Is there a version available which supports the nibble-mode bidirectional
mode? I've looked around and not found one... From the few 1284 specs
I've seen, I'm not sure how reading would work anyways. Looks like you
would have to poll to read the data. Anyone know more about this?
Devices that use these modes for status info (HP Laserjet printers and
some POS printers I'm working with) are becoming more common and it
would be nice if Linux supported them.
2. Last I looked the current parallel driver code does a busy while-loop
for timing. The value is changable via an ioctl but its not very
nice. For at least one printer the default doesn't work so I have to
guess at values and the value of course will change depending on the
speed of the processor. Is anyone fixing this? I would be happy to
do so and submit a patch but depending on how I do it it may not be
backwardly compatible... A good fix for the 2.1.x series?
