Just out of curiosity, have you sent this to Linus? I think he might be
willing to apply this if you ask. Worst case, he might give an official
statement on why he thinks this to be the Wrong Thing (tm). Personally, I
think it is the Right Thing(tm), and I suspect there are a lot of other
people that feel the same way.
