Hi,

I am in the process of testing 2.1.63 but I am having trouble getting
my network initialized and set up.

When the 2.1.xx kernels just started to come out there was a mention of
some network changes especially to the command line of route and
ifconfig.

In my rc.inet1 I have:

/sbin/ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1
/sbin/route add -net 127.0.0.0

and the version output for ifconfig and route are

Linux NET-3 Base Utilities
Source: net-tools 1.41 Philip.Blundell@pobox.com
Kernelsource: 2.0.30
ifconfig 1.25 (1997-05-11)

and

Linux NET-3 Base Utilities
Source: net-tools 1.41 Philip.Blundell@pobox.com
Kernelsource: 2.0.30
route 1.93 (1997-05-01)
-NEW_ADDRT -RTF_IRTT -RTF_REJECT -NLS
AF:(inet) +UNIX +INET +IPX +AX25 +NETROM +ATALK
HW: +ETHER +ARC +SLIP +PPP +TUNNEL +TR +AX25 +NETROM +FR

would some kind soul please enlighten me as to the correct parameters
for ifconfig and route for the 2.1.xx kernels. The above work fine
for 2.0.xx kernels, specifically 2.0.30.

Thanks in advance
Dima
