Just download
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.1/modutils-2.1.55.tar.gz (or find
it on some mirror). In order to compile it correctly,
/usr/include/{asm|linux} has to point to the 2.1.xx kernel headers and not
to 2.0.30...
