gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 6

While compiling samba, I got:
gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 6
Is this a known kernel/hardware problem (like the infamous signal 11), or
should I follow this up with the gcc folks? Feel free to respond
privately, to reduce list traffic.
