ATAPI CD-R/CD-RW Support, UDF

Hello!

Since I am new to this list, I don't know whether this topic has already
been discussed here, so please don't blame me.

I have bought a HP SureStore 7100+ for IDE (internal), and the software
that comes with the drive is quite good. Since the CD-RWs are using the
UD-Format, I can't use them under Linux. And (what is worse), I can't burn
CDs under Linux (yes, I know, there is something called SCSI-Emulation,
but it doesn't seem to work).

Now here are my questions:
1. Will there be any support for the UDF in the near future (or is there
already a possibility to use it?) ?
2. I know it's offtopic, but does anyone know how I could make my
SureStore work under Linux (by the way, my kernel version is 2.1.16, and I
have already tried to follow the instructions I found in the README.ATAPI)

I hope anyone can help me!

Thank you,
Marcus Schmid
