In my opinion, a lot of work with little payoff. I'd rather focus
on making the type signatures better in the first place.
In principle, even-numbered kernel versions shouldn't ever need to change
the interface of an exported symbol, and users of odd-numbered kernel
versions should be prepared to recompile anyways.
