Linux & Alpha performance counters.

Hi,
I am working on porting a project from DU that uses the Alpha
performance counters. In DU, there is a bit that can be set for a
particular process, that allows only events that occur while that
process is running to be recorded.

Is there any support for this in Linux? If not, is any support planned?
It would require the enabling or disabling the performance counters at
each context switch of the particular process.
