Thanx to everyone that replied, you where more than helpful. My
justification
for the question is that I am doing my study from low level to high level.
The
motherboard and hardware are all compliant, so the next highest level would
seem to be the kernel. I knew that Unix stores the date since 1970, but
needed
to be absolutley sure that noone did anything braindead to Linux.

Sorry if anyone was offended that I would suggest the Kernel might have a
problem.

Your comments seem to suggest that I should next go bother the c-lib people
^_^
next.

So far I've found that Y2K compliancy seems to be a non-issue for linux
because
the only application that specifically addresses the issue in an FAQ seems
to be
the Apache web server. It appears that intelligent programmers
(read unix programmers) create a lot less hassle for themselves.
