Debian and RedHat seem to use /dev/dspW, which is somewhat unsatisfactory.
Apparantly Debian has a device for minor 7, too.
Minor 9 is deprecated, and the sooner it is forgotten, the better.

At the risk of another name-flame-fest, can we linux-kernel'ites come up
with a decent name for minor 5 and get it registered?
