One other minor thing to note: it seems there has been some renaming..
modprobe shouts "can't locate parport_lowlevel" to syslog; solved by
(manually) inserting parport_pc.
Last thingie: my GUS still isn't detected; I've just opened my PC and it is
a GUS rev. 3.7; 256 KB RAM on it.
It is properly detected in 2.0.x and 2.1.42!
(with it not being detected: no reserved ioport,dma,interrupts and the
following (weird) output from /dev/sndstat:

[which are the right settings]
(What's weird too: in 2.0.33 it detects a GUS and a GUS PnP, which is not in
there!)
Someone willing to take a look at these problems?
(I for myself will take a look at the GUS-problem)
