External Jaz on pcmcia sltot doestn' get pcked up

I have a Jaz drive on a pcmcia Adaptec 1460 card. My machine finds the
card and reports the drive, but I can't access /dev/sda which is what
it reports seeing. I've enabled scsi disk and scsi generic in the kernel
(not as modules)...
