UMSDOS does *not* already work fine. UMSDOS is broken, and has been
since the early days of 2.1.x.
I am *thoroughly* tired with this thread. UMSDOS is not being
abandoned; there is work on-going to fix it. When this is done, the
patches will likely be reintegrated into the kernel. *uvfat* is the
dormant one at this point; I do not know of any current work on it.
I suggest that any future posts on this topic include constructive
patches.
