Feb 11 11:20:38 michelange kernel: klogd 1.3-3, log source = /proc/kmsg
started.
Feb 11 11:20:39 michelange kernel: Loaded 4428 symbols from
/boot/System.map.
Feb 11 11:20:39 michelange kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.1.76.
Feb 11 11:20:39 michelange kernel: Error seeking in /dev/kmem
Feb 11 11:20:39 michelange kernel: Error adding kernel module table
entry.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is from /var/log/messages.

How can the kernel load symbols from /boot/System.map
before mounting the root fs ? Has this something to
do with lilo ? How to handle this in case you boot
multiple kernels ?

What do the two following error messages mean ?(they do
not appear in dmesg !)

Thanks in advance
