Greetings, again! Well, I disabled CONFIG_SKB_LARGE, and then also
CONFIG_PCI_OPTIMIZE, and no change: xntpd with -d flags hangs the
machine right after a call to the NIST time server through the modem.
But this time, I managed to get some information from right Alt +
scroll lock. Here it is:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
EIP: 0010: [<001306f7>] EFLAGS: 00000283
EAX: 01967f54 EBX: 0000000b ECX: 00000000 EDX: 00000000
ESI: ffffffea EDI: bffffc5c EBP: bffffc5c DS: 0018 ES: 0018 FS: 002b
GS: 002b
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the kernel is in a loop. My /System.map shows the EIP address to
be in :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
001306f0 t __get_fd_set
00130760 t __set_fd_set
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just as a reminder, xntpd dies with signal 1 when not run with the -d
flags.

What else I noticed is that, as this machine is a router, connections
made through the box still functioned when the console was completely
hung. Telnets into the box connected, but hung before presenting a
login prompt.

Hope this helps!
