Bad paradigm. What you say is equivalent to "I don't have IDE disks,
so I object to having IDE in the kernel". Or likewise for SMP. That's
what configuration options are for. You should object, though, if it
makes a change you'd qualify as wrong in your own kernel compiled with
your own options.
