cdrom access by logging inodes in isofs

I am implementing a scheme to log what files are accessed
on a iso9660 fs (or more generally) any cdrom fs. The readdir
routine in dir.c is obviously one place to log inode access, but
file.c is sparse. Can anyone tell me which program actually looks
and reads a file? This used to be in file.c in the 1.x kernels but
has changed since.

Thanks,
Scott
