Pipes and 2.0.32 - file corruption?

Anyone ever have any trouble with data corruption via pipes?

I have some large files that are generated in a pipeline with gzip.
Sometimes the results are corrupted.

It could be a disk problem or a memory problem (non parity ram).
The disk's are scsi with parity on the bus, the memory passes a
memtest program (write patterns over large blocks and verify the
pattern, repeat 10 times)

Loading large gzip'd files into emacs usually results in corrupted
data in the buffer.
