Reversed Stereo in 2.1.x

Recently I noticed that in 2.1.x series kernels that the digitized
stereo sound in Quake and Quake2 was reversed. With encouragment from
Michael Chastain I compiled a nice chunk of kernels between 2.1.10 and
2.1.86 to determine at which version this problem started. My results
were that the sound is fine in 2.1.40 and before and reversed in 2.1.41 on.
This is consistantly reproducible.
My sound hardware is an AWE32 non-pnp with the sound compiled into
the kernel (not modular). Its beyond my abilities to debug this problem,
and I believe Michael was going to try and take a look at it, however I
thought I should make mention of this on the list so its public knowledge.
I do know that the sound code in 2.1.40 was still beta code and in 2.1.41
became official. Whatever changed between that beta and the official code
I would assume is causing this problem. Thanks,
-Scott
