Linus & Company,
First i would like to congratulate everyone on a great job. We (my ISP
www.axess.net) are now running our biggest server on RedHat 5 and the machine
has not hiccuped yet. Even my boss who used to be anti-free unix is
beginning to embrace Linux.
I am very interested in keeping up with the progress of linux.
Unfortunately I do not have the time to keep an eye on all of the
development progress. It would be nice to have a a newsletter every week
or two that gives a brief description of the progress and direction of the
kernel development project. I think that myself and other users feel a
little out of the loop when it comes to the current state of the kernel.
Not only would a newsletter like this keep users better informed it also
would drum up support for different projects. If information was
included about what needed work and what needed testing I think a greater
number of users would be more apt to get involved and help the project.
More over a progress report like this might help software vendors get a
better grasp on where linux is headed. Some of the vendors i have spoken
to consider linux to be a moving target. Perhaps this newsletter could
help to demystify where linux is going for software vendors. Thank you
very much.
N.B. in no way is this negative criticism, I am extremely happy with
everything that is going on.
