Can't boot 2.1.90 with SCSI and SMP

I've had problems booting kernels from the 2.1.87-90 series. The last
version that worked, and the one I'm using now is 2.1.82. The funny
thing is that under 2.1.90 I see my adapter listed at IRQ 15, but it's
also been at irq14. My model is an abp 930.

I get this far,
scsi0 : AdvanSys SCSI 3.1D: PCI 20 CDB: IO EF00.Fm IRQ 15
scsi : 1 host

It never goes further no matter how long you wait.

I am using SMP.
AdvanSys SCSI 3.1D: PCI 20 CDB: IO EF00/F, IRQ 15
