On UP 2.1.91 (and at least on 2.1.66) enabling apm in bios and having:

CONFIG_APM=y
CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE=y
CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE=y
CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK=y

will make X freeze when exiting with ctrl-alt-bs. The problem goes away
when

CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK=n

or

Turn apm completely off in bios.

Btw, I have a mitsumi cdrom (mcdx.o), and when mounting any cd I have to
retry a few times to success. Why could be this?

lightside:~# mount /cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems
lightside:~# mount /cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems
lightside:~# mount /cdrom
<okay>

mcdx do_request() attempt to read from audio cd
end_request: I/O error, dev 14:00, sector 64
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev 14:00 iso_blknum 16 block 32
