APM woes

Hi,

During the last kernels (91+) APM seems to be broken.

With broken, I really mean not working at all, even
disk suspends are not happening and worse, the user-suspend
(<Function-S> on my laptop) is received, processed, even
suspend() is called with the accompaning apm_set_power_state(),
but nothing happens IRL...

It's a APM BIOS 1.2 with connection version 1.2.
The /proc/apm stat e.d. all seem ok, responding to
removal of the AC power cord e.d., so the communication
with the BIOS seems ok.

Anyone knows what to debug next?

BTW: Save_to_disk never worked on this machine too :(
It used to enter the BIOS screen giving nice progress
bars, but the BIOS than fails saying something about
'unable to access HD'.

Oh, the kernel is compiled with 2.8.1 and binutils-2.1.0.23

Met vriendelijke groet,
Pauline Middelink
