This fixes the many odd oops my 8M 386 (no swap, 3M ram disk) was getting
while stress testing a driver I've been working on. With this patch my
test programs just die when memory gets really low and fragmented. Without
the patch (2.0.34pre5) all sorts of weird oops occur.
