2.1.93 can't find PCI SCSI cards on quad PPRO (Orion chipset)

Just put 2.1.93 on the quad box and it says something like '0 scsi hosts
detected' during boot. 2.1.90 works fine at finding the SCSI
controllers.

It has both a 2940UW (adaptec) and a NCR 53C8xx SCSI card, which I
noticed someone else with the '2.1.93' no boot problem also has.

The quad 10/100 ethernet card is detected just fine (4 DEC tulips on one
card, made by OSICOM).
The kernel just panics the kernel when it tries to mount the root disk,
which is SCSI of course.
