SMBFS & 'a' attribute

I ran the following on a WFWG filesystem mounted via SMBFS:

find /mnt | xargs -i grep something {}

The 'a' attribute of every file found was set, though the DOS timestamp
was not changed. Surely this attribute should only be set if the file is
updated.

This is with linux 2.1.95 but I have only just noticed this problem.
