2.1.93+ refuse to boot...

First: Intel PR440fx motherboard; one PPro 180; SCSI tape, disk, CD;
ELSA Permedia2 card.

A very minimal configuration (no modules, the above SCSI devices, VTs
enabled, not even any experimental stuff) refuses to boot under 2.1.93+,
but runs just fine under 2.1.92. It prints the ``Now booting'' message,
then hangs. Argh.

Note: I have VTs enabled and have the console as a VT. It's not that
simple. Tried both a recent egcs and the gcc bundled with the SuSE dist
(2.7.2.1). I've upgraded the various bits and pieces, but it's not getting
far enough for those to matter. I've also tried configuring for a simple
486 rather than the PPro/K6/etc. setting.

I'm going to start digging through the changes some time this evening.
I'll also try the latest AIC7xxx driver (thank you thank you thank you),
although I doubt if that's a problem. If anyone's seen something similar,
ping me...

Jason, newbie
