Problems with sound in 2.1.96 (also some reports of config errors)

Sound still gives the IRQ/DMA time out with my SB16 ASP (Genuine
Creative Labs). Also, it seems that Buslogic and Intel EEPro 100
default to on in the make menuconfig... not a big problem, just slightly
annoying.

The real problem is this (since I was told these par... whatevers cause
my sound problems): With make menuconfig no matter what you tell it, it
will always give the following line, and seems to configure the kernel
this way as well:

CONFIG_PARIDE_PARPORT=y

Is this a bug, or something that should just not have been a config
option in the first place?

Anyway, I am trying it with all other Paraport stuff turned off hoping
the sound will work as suggested by, I believe, Alan Cox.
