Hi!

Looks like aic7xxx-5.0.12 does not work on alpha with kernel 2.1.95.
I also tried 2.1.96, which has new aic driver integrated and it
does not work too (similarly).

The kernel simply hangs during hardware probing. The last two lines were
PCI: Probing PCI hardware.
SMC FDC37C93X Ultra I/O Controller found @ 0x370

Then it does not respond to keyboard, no capslock led, no c-a-del etc.

The original kernel 2.1.95 prints after this:
Starting kswapd v 1.5
Serial driver version 4.24 with no serial options...
ttyS00...
ttyS01...
PS/2 aux...
loop: ...
Floppy...
FDC...
aic7xxx:...

So the messages do not indicate that aic7xxx is the problem. But stock
2.1.95 does work.

Any ideas?

Alexander.
