I am also suffering from this. Copying from an IDE cdrom to SCSI disk will
reliably lock the system hard.

I can also lock the system by grabbing video at high frame rates, which is only
hitting the SCSI drive (aic7xxx). I couldn't prove that it's not the frame
grabber, though.

Is your fix still working OK, and could anyone tell us why it was originally
defined out?
