2.1.98 for the memory impaired

Linus expressed the hope that 2.1.98 would work better for
those of us with little ram. I have 16MB and some evidence
that it worked. Using 2.1.95, I could not compile a file
from the KDE beta4 distribution, viz. kfmgui.cpp. After
20 minutes I gave up, booted 2.0.30, and it took about 2
minutes. I just compiled that file using 2.1.98 with no
problem in about 2 minutes.
