Are you using the binutils from tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/packages/GCC or
prep.ai.mit.edu:/pub/gnu. The one at tsx works correctly when compiling the
kernel. The one at prep.ai.mit.edu doesn't have some of the options that
the kernel makefiles use.
